Isla de San Andrés
The last plane from San Andrés to Providencia takes off at 15:30. If you miss it, you can just stay the night in San Andrés.
San Andrés, Providencia, Santa Catalina:
Though the Islands of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina are all near each other, they do not have anything in common apart from beautiful nature. San Andrés is developing as a place for mass tourism, most of all for tourists from South and North America. Huge hotels, elegant restaurants and other luxuries have turned the island into the dream of all its neighboring lands. Its sister islands – Providencia and Santa Catalina – are connected by a bridge and are located 90 km to the north. Mass tourism does not affect Providencia and Santa Catalina. With new laws and attitude shown by local inhabitants Providencia and Santa Catalina islands will remain a paradise for our children as well. There are to be no future hotels built in Providencia, and all other buildings may be at most two-stories tall. On Santa Catalina, the use of any kind of vehicle that emits harmful substances is strictly prohibited.
Isla de San Andrés:
Huge hotels, elegant restaurants, a shopping center, bright nightlife and activities of all kinds make San Andrés a miniature copy of cosmopolitan cities like Miami or Panama City. Locals here know 2 languages from their birth: English and Spanish. Unlike in Providencia, Spanish dominates here as the official language. You will find luxury 5-star hotels right near the seacoast, but there are inexpensive, comfy hotels as well that are situated only a few-minutes walk from the beach.
The island is inhabited by people from all over the world. Italians who open hotels and restaurants here, Germans who run tourist agencies, Swiss who develop photography, Colombians who ended up coming from the mainland to the Caribbean, and Americans who purchased an estate here.
